Bhutanese athletes in Korea for Asian games

Athletics: About 16 Bhutanese Athletes are in Incheon, South Korea to take part in the 17th Asian games, officially known as the XVII Asia. Bhutanese athletes are taking part in archery, boxing, golf, shooting and Taekwondo.  The Asian games has 439 events in 36 sports disciplines, including the 28 Olympic sports and eight non-Olympic sports. The welcome ceremony for the athletes was held yesterday at the ceremony plaza of the athlete’s village in Incheon. The ceremony began with raising of nations flags and singing of national anthems. A cultural performance reflecting the music culture and traditions of Korea was also part of the ceremony. Athletes from 45 Asian countries are taking part in the event. South Korea has hosted the event twice, once in Seoul in 1986 and later in Bussan in 2002. The 16-day event is considered one of the biggest multi-sport events in the world, governed by Olympic Council of Asia and hosts over 13,000 athletes and 7,000 media person. Source:
